So, you’ve decided to rent a car in Vancouver, but where are the best places to take it?
Vancouver is beautifully situated next to both mountain ranges and water, meaning there are few activities that are not available in the area. Here is a brief list of just some of the adventures that a car rental will open up to you:
Mountain biking in Squamish
There is a whole host of activities you can do around Squamish, and whether you decide on climbing, hiking, or kite boarding, you are sure to have an adrenaline-filled time.
Mountain biking is the jewel in the Squamish outdoor crown, however, as dozens of bike trails are available in the area. Some of these are even rideable during the winter months, meaning there is rarely a time when you can’t jump on two wheels and pedal off.
Ski at Cypress Mountain
If you decide to rent a car in Vancouver during the winter months, skiing up at Cypress Mountain is one of the easier hills to get a taste of the white stuff.
In under an hour you can go from the city centre to the slopes, making it an easily accessible mountain if you rent a car in Vancouver. Do ensure that your rental car is equipped sufficiently for the drive, however, as you are likely to encounter snow.
Snowshoe at Grouse Mountain
For those wanting to experience snow but who aren’t interested in skiing, renting a pair of snowshoes provides a more relaxing and calmer alternative. After getting the gondola to the top of the mountain, there is a bar, restaurant, and other facilities to keep you amused. Grouse Mountain is a scenic spot to explore, and one that is only a short drive north of the city centre.
Bobsleigh or skeleton in Whistler
If skiing isn’t extreme enough for you, why not rent a car in Vancouver and drive up to Whistler, where the Olympic bobsleigh and skeleton track is located. Open to the public for introductory sessions, it’s an unforgettable and unique experience that you won’t find in many places.
